This malicious mendacity is tedious, but perhaps some good can come of it. Is this abuse reporting mechanism a suitable forum for discussing the security economics of privacy? eg The blockchain record indicates that two payments have been made thus far. But suppose more came? Say, orders of magnitude more — at what point would the predators become prey? In security economics terms, what is the cost of honour amongst these thieves? Anyone care to make a ballbark cybercivility guesstimate?

Unlike some other scams, this one doesn’t even include an email password in the body to help increase the “scare” and of course does not contain a screenshot of the “bad behaviour” to legitimize the threat. Email was spoofed, routed through Tennessee, Brasil and Russia in headers.
